E-learning and the associated technologies and teaching strategies are a reality in many places.  We need them in the Northern Territory to help with delivery of flexible solutions to the many training problems we face.  Whether is is the issue of making audio resources for students with low English literacy skills, or bridging the distance issue to get to talk to a student when they need it there are many roles for e-learning capabilities.

It is vital that our trainers and educators have the skills and confidence to be able to use the technology as one aspect of the process that provides the training outcomes we need. We need to think outside the square and build these new solutions.  This site is designed to help you start on that journey and to support you as you progress.

Some parts of the site point you to other resources and some parts lead to case studies which show examples of what other people are doing. This is all designed to help you decide what aspects of e-learning might be relevant to what you are doing.  It is important that you get to understand the capabilites and resources available so you can add e-learning elements to your courses.

E-learning includes resources and also support for processes. Technologies such as video conferencing and collaboration tools allow people to communicate in new ways.  This has the potential to change the need for so much travel removing some of the current time and expense issues. New technologies also mean that if you are travelling to one place you can still maintain electronic contact with people in another place.

This may be as simple as using emails and audio to make podcasts for your students or it could involve more complex use of e-learning resources to allow students to access course information and learning materials in their own time.
