E-tools for Art Workers

Showing true stories with online RPL and e-portfolios

Alicia and Raewyn have been supported by Helen Hornsby and the team at Skillsbook as they use the online RPL support tool Competency Navigator and the e-portfolio tool Skillsbook.  Sue Tucker, Quality Officer, Charles Darwin University has been working behind the scenes assisting with Art Worker Competency Navigator logins and been the access point at Charles Darwin University for retrieving student information.

Alicia Boyle, Education Coordinator, Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre based at Charles Darwin University has been leading this exciting project.

So why are we wanting to get people to work in arts centres? A lot of skills and knowledge already exist so we want to help empower these people to take control of their own futures within arts centres. And to do this by facilitating pathways to sustainable employment within the arts centres.

Suzi Lyons and Eric Bailey from Charles Darwin University and Stephen Anderson from Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education have all been involved lending their art and business teaching and management skills to this project.  Suzi and Eric will be assessing the e-portfolios against the requirements of the Certificate III in Arts Administration.

Most importantly, the Art Workers and Art Centre Coordinators have been working with us throughout this project, taking time to assist us as we collect stories and evidence. They have been truly inspiring in this project and show that the future will be Aboriginal Art Centres coordinated by local Aboriginal people.
